Hey guys! Welcome or welcome back to my blog. I’m super excited as I’m writing this post! Over the last week I’ve been sick and spending quite a few hours in bed. Since I didn’t cook, or do a crafts project over the last few days, I tried to think of something from my week that I could share with you all. That’s when it hit me… my favorite Netflix TV Shows!! This year I’ve watched plenty of shows. So, for this post I wanted to share my top 3.
***DISCLAIMER: All the shows included are rated for 14+ or 15+ audiences.***
Jane the Virgin
This show was in my recommendations forever, so I finally decided to give it a try. I loved how dramatic and funny it was! The sarcastic narrator and unpredictable plotline was amazing… I had to keep pressing “next episode” to find out more. If you love drama, romance, some crime, and strong female characters, this is the perfect show for you!
***SPOILER ALERT*** Petra was my favorite character. I loved how smart and calculating she was at the beginning, and I loved her arc even more. Over the seasons she changed from selfish and manipulative to loving and considerate. Throughout her growth, she became even stronger, instead of sneakily trying to work around Rafael, she changed to become a worthy, honest, and successful owner of the Marbella.
***SPOILER ALERT*** Team Michael! I know that this opinion is a bit controversial, especially since Jane ends up with Rafael. BUT… Michael was so sweet, loving and caring towards Jane. I always felt like he knew and understood Jane way better than Rafael did.
Never Have I Ever
I had seen this show around forever, but never really intended to watch it. But on YouTube I came across compilations, and soon I decided to give the show a chance. I actually ended up watching this twice, the second time was with my mom. I really enjoyed it because in many scenes I could see myself and my mom in Devi and Nalini. I also liked the message in the show about how it is okay to have flaws and make mistakes sometimes. You can still move forward and try to be better.
One thing that stood out to me in this movie, were Devi’s supportive friends. Her friends were very supportive of Devi’s choices, they were forgiving when she made mistakes, and they stuck with her through thick and thin.
***SPOILER ALERT*** After season 1 I was rooting for Devi and Ben, since they had so much more in common. Plus it seemed like Paxton was embarrassed to be seen with Devi. But after Season 2 came out last week, I wasn’t so sure. The second season had a whole episode from Paxton’s point of view, and after getting to know him more, I’m on the fence.
This was another one of those shows that I kept seeing every time I was browsing Netflix. I started this one right after I finished Jane the virgin. The vibe from this show was like Friends… only way weirder.
***SPOILER ALERT*** My favorite character was Winston. In the S1 E2, when we first meet him, he seems very normal, almost more normal than Jess. But later we see him become full blown crazy (especially the episode where he plots to kill his girlfriend’s cat). The randomness of this show always made me laugh.
Even though Jess was the main character, all the other characters were very interesting too, with their own fun storylines. I would totally watch a spin off on Cece, Nick, Schmidt and Winston.
