5 Things I Cannot Fly Without

When I first started my blog back in 2020, I created 5 categories for my posts. Over the last couple years I have published many posts in “Arts & Crafts”, “Cooking + Recipes”, “Poems & Stories” and “A Day in My Life”. But I added the fifth and final category with lots of hope. And today is finally the day that I add my first post in the “Travel” category!

That’s right! As I was packing for my trip to India, I thought that this would be the perfect time to share my airport essentials. Let’s jump right in…

Although this may seem like an obvious one to some people, I only recently started carrying a travel pillow with me. I’ve seen it around on every other person at the airport, but it always seemed like a useless, additional thing to carry. However, now that I have one, it is so much better than leaning on the window, tray table or your traveling buddy. It’s warm, and helps keep your neck/head upright. It makes long flights a bit more comfortable!

This one is an absolute must! I know some people like to bring noise-cancelling headphones, and as much as I like them, I don’t prefer them for travel. This is mainly because I like to hear whatever is happening around me, for example last minute announcements at the airport.

An additional related item I carry is a headphone jack splitter. Ever since I was little, my brother and I liked watching movies on the plane together. So, this way, we can both plug our headphones in at the same time, and watch a movie on the same device.

Like the neck pillow, this is also something I’ve started carrying recently. A portable charger is useful to carry all the time, but especially at airports. It’s great for emergencies and as a back up option. Sometimes, I also use it when the alternative is crowding around an outlet, or setting up camp on the floor.

Okay, so this one sounds a bit ambiguous at first. But by this I mean a small pouch with a toothbrush, face wash, hand sanitizer, lip balm, etc. On long flights, I like to use this pouch to freshen up in a restroom, or just have things like tissues and sanitizer handy when I want to snack. This pouch can be different for everyone, in fact I usually switch out a couple items based on where I’m going and how long the flight is.

Last but not least, gum! I carry gum because it helps keep my breath fresh and is also helpful in unblocking my ears. I sometimes swap these out for mints. Mints are better when you don’t want to chew or don’t have a place to discard flavorless gum. Of course, I love getting crazy / fun flavors. πŸ™‚

Thank you all for reading! I’m really excited about getting back to blogging again, and writing my first travel related blog post.

Question of the Day: What is one thing you cannot travel without?
